Hungry Jack's Decadent Delightful Desserts & Chunky Chicken!

Hungry Jack's is an interesting fast-food chain, they've come up with some truly unique menu items and in the past they've distinguished themselves apart from other fast-food chains and restaurants.. And I'm hesitant to use the word 'restaurant' because in my opinion a restaurant should be somewhere that you actually sit and have a decent meal, not deep fried garbage with more garbage on the side covered in copious amounts of artery clogging grease and mayonnaise.

It's interesting some of the items they put on their menu too, too often do they remind me of my random trivia knowledge regarding fast-food and these chains. Products on the menu such as Angus burgers such as the 'Angry Angus';

Interesting point of fact is that something like I believe 40% of people believe that Angus Beef comes from the anus. It does not. It is not even associated with the anus and in fact Angus Beef is merely higher quality beef.

But burgers aside, what of the less conventional menu items such as desserts? Yes, even fast-food chains with their abhorrent and abominable food-stuffs carry equally disturbing dessert items most often deep-fried but in this case we're going to go over some I've had and I've actually enjoyed, these are the good items from Hungry Jacks menu, the products you should order if you're looking for something good dessert-wise and you've got a little room to play in your diet.. Although be forewarned, these are not health-friendly.. They are however delicious..

What are they? Well while Mackers serves comparatively disgusting fried-pies and the like Hungry Jacks offers something truly worth having; pie pies. Here we go, kids.

Hungry Jacks Dutch Apple Pie:
This'll be Hungry Jacks Dutch Apple Pie, the first entry. May I start by stating that I actually adore the fact that each of their pies receives it's own personal packaging, the fact that they're boxed in individually separated servings and the fact that it's so neatly done really earns points in my book..

It's sad though, whatever points it earns it automatically loses them for the fact that this pie has 3 grams of trans fat - Trans fat as I'm sure you know is bad.. Very bad.... I'm afraid that this pie is something I'd completely avoid today but for the sake of the article I'll review what I remember of this pie from the last time I actually ate it.

Truthfully? It's okay, it's not the best apple pie in existence but then again it's fucking Hungry Jacks. What do you expect? Gourmet shit? Yeah.. No..

You can taste the apples, it's got a nice sweetness, and the crust is soft and easily scooped up. It would benefit from the inclusion of some whipped cream to be certain to add a little bit more moistness and a different texture to it but it's certainly not bad by any means. All in all, pretty damn good.. Could of used whipped cream and the trans fat kills it for me, I won't ever eat this again. Trans fat is EVIL.

Hungry Jacks Hershey's Sundae Pie:
How is something like this not worse for you than a Dutch Apple Pie? I'm confused why a Dutch Apple Pie has more trans fat than a Hershey's Sundae Pie.. How the fuck do you manage that? Ones got fruit in it and the other is nothing but chocolate and goddamn sugar.. The hell? But this little bastard sports only a single gram of trans fat which is somewhat acceptable I guess if you're going to break your diet.

This is probably one of the only pies I'd be pretty likely to break my diet to enjoy. It's motherfucking Hershey's so it's nothing but chocolaty decadence and it's chocolaty decadence at it's best.

The Hershey's Sundae Pie is pretty much a dream of decadence, I'll keep using that word to describe this; it's goddamn delicious - A chocolate outer shell coats it with a drizzling of hard chocolate sauce on top and a great graham cracker crust, it even sports the elusive whipped cream and when refrigerated the way it's meant to be it's almost like ice-cream, it's fucking delicious half frozen or heaven forbid you take it home and fully freeze it before eating it then just prepare and give in to the fact that you're going to orgasm your pants on spot. Trust me, this one is amazingly delicious.

That said, I'm a woman and a Big Cat; I'm a whore for chocolate. I won't lie.

Hungry Jacks Strawberry Cheesecake:
But is there one thing I'm more of a whore for? Cheesecake. Oh my god, I LOVE cheesecake. Am I a whore for Hungry Jacks cheesecake? Oh god, the biggest.

Health consciousness be damned, this cheesecake is AMAZING and fucking EPIC and serves me right in my goddamn pie-hole to shut the hell up and not worry about the calories because Jesus tap dancing Zombie Ninja Pirate Spartan Christ is this ever good.

A soft graham cracker crust that is just neigh on fluffy and just buttery enough to boot while tasting slightly like it's honey sweetened, the PERFECT flavour of Strawberry in those delightful wonderful little swirls of red, and the creaminess, smoothness, and delicious softness of the cheesecake itself which is just slightly both sweet and sour with a perfect mix of the two between to be complimented excellently by the strawberry swirls? Oh god, OH GOD YESSS!

Fucking hell is this ever good! It's been so long since I've had one but I still remember the deliciousness, I can't think of anything bad to say about this other than it's rare and I haven't had it in years. Chilled this is good, frozen it's AMAZING 550% - If you get the chance and you can only try it, take the time to freeze it. Trust me. Also, no trans fat! I LOVE THIS CHEESECAKE!

Dinner:
Oh man I'm super pleased with tonight's dinner, it's Yasai Yakitsuke Niwatori (Baked Vegetable Chicken) and it was unbelievably successful, I mean I expected to be proud of it and had no reason to believe it'd screw up at all but this came out just.. Wow.. I'm honestly a little at a loss for words, it came out great.
James gobbled this shit up and why not? Chicken, noodles, green beans, mushrooms, and beets with a side of an Anpan (Sweet Roll) and carrots - Holy shit though, it's appearance. I'm really blown away by how good it looks, it looks restaurant quality to me!
Tell me you don't want this. Tell me you wouldn't like to try it. You can't, can you? It's ever so delicious looking and so perfectly baked golden.

  2. I believe the Angry Angus is the Angry Whopper here in the states. And it is friggin' awesome!

The Dutch Apple Pie is pretty good. But the Hershey's Sundae Pie is heavenly! I'm lucky if I eat one of these once a year, as I don't crave sweets to often. I think BK also has a Reese's Sundae Pie, but I'm not too sure. I have never seen or heard of the Strawberry Cheesecake, but it does look good. I do appreciate a good slice of cheescake every now and then. Since you seem to be pretty good a t cooking, maybe you should give cheesecake a shot. :)

And your dinner does look pretty good. I would give it a try, only minus the beets. I hate beets!

  3. Everyone says that until they try my meals with beets and then decide they like them.
