It came to my attention recently while watching one episode from each series after the other that some things in the continuity just don't sync up at all..
I will for instance and as an example point out that Gotham City in Batman TAS as well as much of it's technology, architecture and culture is modeled mostly after the 1950s to 1960s of our world.. Well, loosely at least.. Loosely in the sense that aesthetically it's nearly identical and technology-wise it's at least pretty close.. I mean take a look at the city itself..
Then there was something I noticed.. Watching an episode of Superman The Animated Series directly after Batman The Animated Series I realized that the architecture, technology and cars of Superman are considerably different and a little more modernized than Batman.. Not much more than Gotham but Metropolis is definitely more 'City of the Future' in design and architecture and it's technology and cars are definitely more updated.. Which is odd because they're supposed to exist within the same time line and continuity as one another, in fact Metropolis as I understand is not supposed to be that far away from Gotham.
Metropolis meanwhile? Luthorcorp is responsible for a mother fucking Terminator running loose powered by a space-rock core. Holy shit.
It gets worse though.. After watching Batman The Animated Series and then Superman The Animated Series I watched an episode of Justice League Unlimited and realized how truly fucked the time line in the DCAU seemed to be and how badly skewed the continuity had become.. I bring you the epiphany.. Batman not only purchased but built as if it were nothing a fucking space station. A SPACE GODDAMN STATION.
So Gotham is stuck in the 1950s and 1960s, Metropolis is stuck in the 1990s and evidently somewhere in the world exists Futuristic Alien Fuck All Tech because it's not just the Justice League that has technology like this but pretty much everyone else on the goddamn planet because you see it everywhere, even used by the most mundane of civilians.
So yeah, in closing..
Thanks, Vandal, thanks.. You dick..
This was thoroughly enjoyed by James and again, I was quite proud. It came out perfectly.
